Sony Bravia DAV-IS10 review

Sony Bravia DAV-IS10 review

The team over at Crunchgear has taken the Sony Bravia DAV-IS10 for a ride and came away pretty impressed by the experience. This diminutive home theater system definitely packs plenty of bang in such a small form factor, offering excellent picture quality from either analog or HDMI video output (maximum of 1080i only) in addition to superb audio performance with a wide variety of sound settings to choose from. Great for those living in cramped quarters - a trend that is picking up more and more all over the world since they don't manufacture land anymore. The Sony Bravia DAV-IS10 is great value for your $799 - why not get yourself an early Christmas present this year?

2007 Frankfurt Motor Show Preview: Citroen C5 Airscape - full details, hi-res gallery

Citron has officially released everything its got on the C5 Airscape Concept that leaked out a few days ago, and it turns out our guess that it incorporated a soft top beneath its tonneau cover was wrong. The C5 Airscape will actually shade its occupants with a folding hard top made out of lightweight, strong and certainly expensive carbon fiber.

Billed as an "executive cabriolet", the C5 Airscape is a four-seat hard-top convertible with expressive styling that looks less like a concept and more like a production ready prototype. Its length is accentuated by a sharp crease running the vehicle's length that also incorporates a strip of chrome acting as a door handle for both sets of doors. The cabin is covered in rich looking Chocolate Brown leather and reportedly features just as many chrome accents as the exterior, though Citron didn't provide any interior shots.

The concept rides on unique 19-inch alloy wheels that are turned by a 2.7LHDi V6 engine producing 208bhp and augmented by what Citron calls an 'UrbanHybrid' system. Much like the mild hybrid system used by GM, Citron's set up incorporates a reversible alternator-starter and super capacitors that can both power accessory systems like the A/C and stereo, as well as give the diesel engine a shot of extra torque when needed.

The C5 Airscape will officially debut in Frankfurt next month and gives us a preview of the new C5 sedan, which we expect to meet next March in Geneva.

Merian Scout Navigator preview

AVing has just released a sneak peek of the Merian Scout Navigator that will be paraded at the soon-to-happen IFA 2007. This is touted to be a comprehensive all-in-one navigation system that comes with an audio travel guide which encompasses more than 800 businesses located across major regions, complete with photo information for greater detail. Maps are provided by Navteq, where other features include TMC support and a 3.7" VGA touch sensitive display. No idea on how much it will cost though, but I like the minimalist design.

2007 Frankfurt Auto Show Preview: Ford Verve Concept

Behold the Verve Concept, Ford of Europe's B-car concept that will debut at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show next month. Sketches of the car appeared yesterday, and judging from our gallery of high-res pics, they seem to have been accurate. Pegged as the precursor to Ford's upcoming redesign for the Fiesta, the Verve Concept blends "Kinetic Design" elements inspired by the Iosis Concept that have trickled down into production cars like the new Mondeo and S-Max. In this case, the cat-like slit headlights dominate the small car's front end, along with a rather oversized lower grille. The rear features taillights above the belt line, a center-mounted exhaust, and small lip spoiler above the hatch. We can also see that the Verve's roof is all dark-tinted glass. Aside from the out-of-proportion front grille, our only gripe with the Verve are those chrome plated wheels that look decidedly aftermarket, and not in a good way.

Clearly the new Fiesta will be toned down compared to the Verve when it arrives late in 2008, but this concept is not hiding much. The Fiesta will share a platform with the new Mazda2, and eventually cross the ocean to be sold in the U.S., as well. Considering Ford's current financial strain, and regardless of clashing design themes (Kinetic vs. Three-Bar), we expect the European Fiesta to arrive for sale in the U.S. with little alteration.

2007 Frankfurt Motor Preview: GM to show Opel Corsa Hybrid Concept

General Motors' Opel division will use the IAA in Frankfurt to push its ecoFLEX initiative, which will see the automaker leverage multiple technologies to help lower its offerings' CO2 emissions and fuel consumption. Headlining ecoFLEX for the automaker is the Opel Corsa Hybrid Concept, which mates a 1.3L diesel with the next-gen Belt Alternator Starter (BAS) light hybrid system (BAS is the mild hybrid setup used in the Saturn Green Line vehicles), which trades in the current system's NiMH battery for a lithium-ion unit. The arrangement is good for a claimed fuel economy rating of 62.7 mpg (3.75 L/100km). It also emits just 99 g/km of CO2 per km.

Joining the Hybrid Concept in Frankfurt is the Corsa 1.3 CDTI ecoFLEX, which has 75 hp, boasts fuel economy of 52 mpg and CO2 emissions of 119 g/km. In addition, Opel will showcase CNG-powered vehicles, promote its "Eco-Turbo" approach to using smaller turbocharged engines that match the power of larger units but are more efficient and cleaner-running. Finally, the Vectra FlexPower will be on display, which is powered by the 175 hp E85-compatible 2.0L turbo engine used in the Saab 9-5 BioPower models.

This puts Opel in line with other European competitors, which are also actively downsizing engines and embracing biofuels, etc.

Brando USB Mini Battery Review

Brando USB Mini Battery Review
PalmAddicts has taken the USB Mini Battery from Brando for a spin, and came away with a lovely glow on their face. This little portable power pack allows you to charge your device while it is still in a bag, so you can reach your destination with a fully juiced smartphone/PDA/game console. The somewhat diminutive size when compared to an alternative solution from Proporta also wins it more brownie points with the reviewer since it would be way more convenient to bring it along on your travels. Looks like this is a great deal if you own an iPhone, iPod, PDA, and other portable devices. The USB Mini Battery currently retails for $36 from Brando.

The Power Of Gift Certificates - Online Or Off

Amazon has one of the most amazing affiliate features I have ever seen, with the ability to have under one associate ID at least 100 stores in all categories of products that amazon has to offer, therefore the potential to create many different niches of products and through this you also have the opportunity to refer someone to buy gift certificates which is a great affiliate bonus feature that yields powerful results, especially those who would like to shop with these easy to use certificates.

Gift certificates are like the gold of many online and actual shops in the offline world as you can give these away as gifts to anyone you know and thus you can refer them to receive these certificates to put towards the purchase of anything that the gift certificates are for.

Promoting online gift certificates are easy if you have maybe your own site or blog or even subscriber list, so that you can present either small ads or even describe the benefits of using these discount coupons for any purchases online and offline, then you can....but don't just settle for these areas of promotions.

Gift certificates are far reaching beyond the confines of your website or your own promotional boundaries, they can now be put so far out there that anyone can literally see the benefits of gift certificates for their own online and offline purchases, just think of not only Amazon but many retail shops and stores use these gift cards and other named discount coupons to drive extra sales to their establishments.

So remember when you see the gift certificates in the many forms online and offline they are there for one main reason and that's to increase sales and interest in products and achieve the companies profit margins successfully, because everyone loves discounts and ways of avoiding paying directly with cold hard cash.

Gift certificates are a viral marketing method in a way as people tell other people and others see the benefit of using them for spending and sometimes saving money on purchases much like store cards they are of that way of consumer mind bending sales techniques that professional internet marketers use and duplicate over and over again.

Discount shopping - place your order, please!

Shopping... that favorite activity of us all! Let's face it. We all love to shop and this is why we love the Internet so much. With just a computer and a high-speed Internet connection, we have access to hundreds, if not millions of products worldwide, all provided with some sort of discounts, special offers and free shipping. Is the Internet great or what?
In the past few years, more and more companies have started to understand how much profit could be made from online discount shopping. They opened their virtual stores to interested Internet users and started to provide diverse merchandise. Today, the online shopping market has developed incredibly much and practically you can find anything you are interested in on the Internet. Such websites are made to propose a much more comfortable alternative to traditional shopping, allowing the Internet user to purchase any kind of product, as long as he/she has money on a credit card.
As there were too many products included in the concept of discount shopping, the need to spread them in categories was felt. Now, if you want to purchase anything from the Internet, you can browse available categories, look at the popular searches and also at the most wanted category. On the website, you will also find relevant information regarding the products, such as available sizes or price. If you are a dedicated online shopper, then you cannot disregard the beauty of these websites.
So, you may be wondering what are the products you can find online under discount shopping? The nominees are: apparel and accessories, shoes, paintings, digital cameras, cell phones, computers, consumer electronics, health and beauty products, jewelry and sports related stuff. The list could go on and on but the main thing you have to understand is this: online shopping has transformed over the years into a true industry and it continues to develop. Millions of people are interested in wholesale products presented online, especially when it comes to computers, digital cameras and electronics in general.
The great availability of wholesale products online has also been connected with the many special offers presented. No matter if you want a customized souvenir, a deduction or special shipment, you can be sure that such promotions attract and ensure the loyalty of customers, helping them to build their confidence when it comes to buying on the Internet.
Online discount shopping is a wonderful way to gain access into one of the most diverse market for wholesale products, meaning China. You can find everything you want and the best thing is of course, the low price. You do not have to worry about placing your order and payment methods, as every detail is carefully presented and any question is answered. For the buyer's protection, the website owners use a special system, that of escrow, and there is also the seller trust score, helping the buyer to go for sellers that are reliable and honest.
Anytime you feel like shopping, do not hesitate to use the Internet for such purposes. Always check the new arrivals, discounts and shipping offers. You can find shoes, perfumes, makeup, chic clothes plus digital cameras, MP3 players and even car parts. There is not one single product that the Internet can provide and wholesale prices are always attractive. If you too consider the Internet to be a useful shopping portal, then do not waste any more time and enter online. You will be surprised of the variety of products, all of the highest quality and at the best possible prices.

Peer Review: Google Sky leaves reporters starry-eyed

google_sky_logo.jpg

Way back in January, we guessed that Google's next mapping project might include the universe. We were right: this week Google introduced its latest version of Google Earth. In the new download, users can click a "switch to sky," option. Suddenly, instead of looking down on earth from space, they're be looking up at space via a compilation of more than a million satellite images.

Google maps of space! What's not to like? Headlines this week included "The service is out of this world" (Ireland's Silicon Republic), while a "Earthtimes" called it a "heavenly add on," and newspapers cooed "Google reaches for the stars." Which isn't to say that the service is perfect: Many reporters agreed that Google Sky is going to need some tweaks. More thoughts from around the web after the jump.

"When I heard about the concept of Google Sky, I started to think, 'wouldn?t "Google Universe' have been a better name?' ?So it was at that point that I decided to see wassup with the domain, googleuniverse.com. Surely, Google had parked it, no? N-o-o-o… if Google really wants to use Google Universe, they?d have to go through some guy in Queensland, Australia." , ZDNet

"'It's a great idea. It's going to be very successful, especially with the general public and schools,' says Francisco Diego, an astronomer at University College London, U.K., who is involved in science outreach. But for astronomers, even of the backyard variety, he notes, it's not the ideal tool. 'Amateur astronomers would be better off with something like Stellarium or Starry Night — you can see the sky above your head at any time, which Google Sky doesn't do,' says Diego." , Nature

"Missing, or perhaps a feature I can't find, is a feature that allows me to punch in the date, time, and my position on Earth that would allow me to see what the night sky would look like from my backyard. Google Sky is off to a good start. My fingers are crossed Google and third parties will add more content to Google Sky." , PC World

"Hopefully Google will partner with other sky-registry organizations, space-science agencies, academic institutions, and observatories to include more information on existing objects in the database and to add more deep-sky imagery for your zooming pleasure." , AppScout

"Google Sky is exciting for many different reasons, even if you're not an astronomy geek. I wonder what big dataset Google will open up to public scrutiny in an easily-accessible form next? , Information World Review

"My first impression is that my beloved Starry Night is in no danger of losing its spot on my Mac dock. Even with the combined forces of the Digital Sky Survey Consortium, Hubble, Palomar, the U.K.'s Astronomy Technology Center, and the Anglo-Australian Observatory on deck. Imaginova's been offering [Starry Night] for years and believe me, they have some user-interface insight that Google can't touch. (And I don't mean anything too arcane, either; I'm talking about basics like horizon line and show/hide for sunlight and such.) That said? I am incredibly pleased with the possibility for incorporating star maps into… oh, everything." , USA Today

"Google's mission is no longer to organize the world's information, but the universe's. Vint Cerf's talk at GeoWeb a few weeks ago now takes on a whole new salience. (He cautioned against developing a too Earth-centric internet.)" , Ogle Earth

"I'll not bore you with tales of wide-eyed amazement. But Google Sky is cool and should be an excellent teaching tool for my kids. They're used to Google… That should thrill investors. If kids grow up on Google, they'll be more likely to stick with the portal in later years." , Motley Fool

"Google Earth already has user-generated layers allowing you to view everything from proposed construction projects to real-time weather to annotated vacation snapshots. I want to see amateur astronomers add their own pix to Google Sky. I want to browse through all the locations where we've found intriguing SETI signals. Or how about a layer showing the home planets of all the aliens on Star Trek?" , Forbes.com

"I don?t like it. Well, to be clear, I don?t like it yet. I think this version is lacking some basic necessities, but once they (and some tweaks) are added this will be a pretty cool app. For one thing, when I clicked the button to start it, it said it was loading the sky above my current location. However, it doesn?t tell me what that current location is. It doesn?t tell me what time of day it?s using — the sky moves, so time is crucial." , Bad Astronomy
