Samsung G400 Soul review: Fold and touch

Gsmarena have posted their review of the Samsung G400 Soul. Here are the key features, main disadvantages and final words.

Final words
All those who like the Soul can now do it body and soul: the lineup has it all already in terms of form factor. And it's definitely not like throwing in a clamshell just for the sake of having one. Samsung G400 Soul brings a notable "first-to" record. Not only is it the first 5 megapixel clamshell, but is well decked out with niceties like face detection, image stabilization, and wide dynamic range and excellent image quality.

G400 Soul also stands out with that dual screen setup: two equal in size and resolution TFT displays. Touchscreen and haptics on top are just as sweet. Add the good set of features and you get yourself a deal.

Designwise, we could wish the phone was a little more compact, especially with the flip up. The poor sunlight legibility of the external display also ruins some of the experience. QVGA video recording at 15fps is the other thing we're not happy to see in a hi-end cameraphone.

Even so, the Samsung G400 appeal is likely to extend beyond the clamshell devotees. The Soul pedigree (enhanced by distinct exterior), the great imaging and the balanced feature set will possibly convince those who like to weigh benefits against costs. The style conscious will make up their mind a lot easier.

Images: Philips X800 gets previewed

You're probably already aware Philips will be rolling out the X800 all-touchscreen equipped phone in the near future. The device has already been approved by the FCC, giving us hope the launch is imminent. Or is it?

The lack of 3G, WiFi and even EDGE connectivity will certainly kill the deal for many people, myself included, and also indicates Philips may sell the X800 only in Asia. On the good side, though, there's a 2.9-inch 240×400 touchscreen, 2 megapixel camera with auto-focus, Bluetooth, microSD memory slot, and a 1250 mAh battery, which promises to deliver up to 850 hours of standby and up to 8 hours of talk time.

We can only hope Philips will price the X800 accordingly — i.e. make it affordable, and then I may be interested to buy it as a second (that's third, actually) phone.

Seat Ibiza SportCoupe ? review

New Seat Ibiza hatchback hasn?t even gone on sale in the UK, and already the Spanish car maker is showing off the three-door version- the Seat Ibiza SportCoupe. The Seat Ibiza SportCoupe has a unique profile ? designed under the watchful eye of ex-Lamborghini design chief Luc Donckerwolke ? and the first application of the VW Group's seven-speed DSG semi-automatic gearbox.

The Seat Bocanegra was one of the stars of the 2008 Geneva motor show - but even so, few expected the Spanish manufacturer to put the car in production, relatively unchanged

Despite the lower profile, the SportCoupe still offers adequate headroom up front ? although taller drivers might struggle ? and a reasonable boot. At 284 litres it's far from the biggest, but swallowed two small suitcases and a laptop bag easily on our test drive.

Seat also revealed a pair of hot hatches will go on sale next year: FR and Cupra, which will both feature the VW Group's 1.4-litre TSI engine. This boasts a turbocharger and supercharger, and Seat told Auto Trader the cars' power will be in excess of 150 and 180bhp for the FR and Cupra respectively.

A low-emission Ecomotive version will also join the line up; and although exact specifications are yet to be confirmed, it will produce less than 100g/km of CO2.

The Seat Ibiza SportCoupe scored a full five star rating in the EuroNCAP crash test programme for adult occupant protection, four for child safety and three for protecting pedestrians. It counts ESP, head thorax side airbags (a first in the supermini class) and side curtain airbags among the safety kit.

Seat offer the Ibiza SportCoupe in three trim levels: Reference, Stylance and Sport. All models feature anti-trap electric front windows, remote central locking and a six speaker MP3-compatible CD player as standard.
