Who Are You - A Boomer Consumer Or Just A Waster, A Waiter Or A Wisher?

OK... how much stuff do you waste? Think about it. Whether it's time or "stuff" we are all guilty. Let's talk time. First we'll look at the BUYER. You shop on line to save time right? No waiting in long lines, no crowds, no finding a parking spot, etc. But then what do you do? You go on-line to the overcrowded sites and post and wait in a crowd of thousands of people. Whether it's an auction site or a listing site, face it, you are lost in the shuffle. Oh sure, they were great 2-5 years ago but now you're competing with pleas for Hanna Montana tickets or the SuperBowl or "just send me a dollar" post and all you want to do is buy a bed! And the same goes for the seller- you have all that AND people who want to sell the potato chip shaped like Abraham Lincoln or the washcloth a celebrity used to wipe off the vomit. Ugh. So why didn't you just go set up shop at a flea market or have a yard sale and bypass the crazies? Because you wanted to save the time and the hassle, right? Well, guess what? Those sites you are posting now probably won't save you either!

When I say waste I'm not just talking time. I'm talking about the stuff you buy and discard to the backs of your closets, attics, basements and garages. Think about it-are you a closet shop-a-holic? Many of us are. Addicted to what's new today, the "gotta have it" items that are plastered everywhere. Stuff you bought but tired of or are no longer using-from clothes to gadgets. How many clothes do you have that have only been worn a few times and then pushed to the back of the closet, never to be thought of again. How about all those great baby items that your child has now outgrown. Where are they? Are you a "new hobby every quarter" person? Started it, bought all the gear/equipment but then decided it wasn't for you. Now where's the stuff? What about you techie folks. New gadgets come out and you discard the old ones without a thought. Maybe you'll post on a listing or an auction site with the zillion of others.

What we want to do is raise the awareness that there are people who can't afford to shop retail but like the same "stuff"-the clothes, the gadgets, and the sports/hobby equipment. What's old to you is new to somebody. And do you always have to buy retail? Can you make a difference in your life or someone else's by becoming a BOOMER CONSUMER (BC)? Yes, we all can become a BC by getting the retailers hands out of our pocket while helping each other. Many of the present day auction sites and listing sites have loads of RETAILERS in disguise. We can cut them out and barter with each other so WE win not the mega stores or greedy merchants. Think about it: People who have and people who need coming together on a site that doesn't have zillions of crazy post. A site with ordinary folks bartering their wares at fair prices. Sounds like a time gone by doesn't it? Well its back.
