Skype for the PSP Review: It Is Good!

Skype for the PSP Review: It Is Good!

We’re staying on top of this hot PSP topic: now that Skype has landed on the PSP, many of you might like to know how well it works. We tested it and our verdict is that it works really well. To use it, you need to install the PSP 3.90 update and you need a microphone. In my case, I used a plain Sony headset (see photos). Don’t forget to plug the headset into the PSP audio remote, it is required.

Upon entering your login/password, you will find Skype’s familiar environment, with your contacts. Simply choose one, place a call and voila. The sound quality is excellent. I tried to call a couple of people and it worked flawlessly – they were even surprised to know that I was talking on Skype for PSP (they found it increadibly cool too), as if they expected a mobile device to sound noticeably worse (than a PC).

It just works and it sounds great. The user interface is speedy, just like the regular PSP menus, no problem there.

2009 Suzuki Equator Preview

The Suzuki pickup truck that will bow at the Chicago auto show next week could carry the name Equator, according to Web site PickupTruck.com.

New Suzuki truck will be built by Nissan North America at its Smyrna, Tenn., plant. The Suzuki pickup will be a version of Nissan's mid-size Frontier pickup, though neither company has specified whether it will be a four-door or two-door truck, long or short bed, four- or six-cylinder.

2009 Suzuki Equator The pickup will enter production next year, and will only be sold by Suzuki in North America, and in no other global markets. Though the truck will be a rebadged Nissan Frontier, it will get a new fascia and other differentiation. It's not planned to be a high-volume vehicle, though.

In a release accompanied by this artist's rendition of the new truck, Suzuki says that "using several lightly modified versions of its new truck, Suzuki will showcase both the company's diverse brand spirit and illustrate the capability and flexibility of the all-new Suzuki truck."

Stay tuned for more details from Chicago's auto show next week.

2009 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart Preview

Automotive companies do battle on various levels. Their economy cars face off against the next guy's el-cheapo Kleenex box. Mid-range entries battle for volume supremacy. High-performance models duke it out at the upper end for headlines in the enthusiast press.

2009 Mitsubishi Lancer RalliartThe 2009 Ralliart looks to fill the gap in Mitsubishi's Lancer lineup that includes the base Lancer models and the esteemed Evolution. At the Detroit auto show where the Ralliart made its debut, Mitsubishi had two previous Ralliart-badged cars to help position their newest model. The older Galant and Starion were both road-rally terrors in their day, and it was nice to see Mitsubishi polish-up those old racers and show them to the world.

The Ralliart is powered by a new 2.0-liter intercooled and turbocharged engine that develops about 235 horsepower, up from the base Lancer at 153 but well shy of the Evo's 291.

The direct-shift twin-clutch six-speed gearbox (like the Evo) feeds all four wheels via a full-time system with the manufacturer's Active Center Differential. The ACD employs an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch center differential that directs torque forward or back depending on what's going on at each exact moment. Front helical and rear mechanical limited slip differentials ensure the Mitsu can put down as much power as the road surface allows.

The Ralliart sports a more aggressively styled nose and arse, the latter featuring twin exhaust tips. Inside, the changes are minor, but include paddle shifters from the Evo. Tempting options will quickly escalate the Ralliart's base price; Recaro seats, HID headlights, 650 watt Rockford Fosgate nine-speaker audio system, Sirius satellite radio, power sunroof, and a 30 GB Hard Drive Navigation system.

The exact rollout schedule and final pricing for the Ralliart aren't set yet, but as more facts become available, we'll fill you in. It should be interesting to see how this new Lancer fares against its nemeses from Subaru and Mazda.

2008 Chicago Auto Show Preview

CASlogo2008 marks the 100th edition of the Chicago Auto Show. Since 1901, Chicago has been home to the largest auto show in the nation, giving us car-loving mid-western corn dwellers something to be proud of.

This year, the show will be featuring over 1,000 vehicles for a full 10 days. If you’re going, admission is $10 for adults, $5 for kids and seniors. The show starts on Friday, Feb. 8th to Sunday, Feb. 17th, and the floor will be open from 10AM to 10PM every day except the last, in which the floor will close at 8PM. One cool display will the special 100th Edition stage featuring some significant cars from the beginning of the 20th Century.

Make sure to head down to the bottom of this article for a full map of the show this year.

We’ve been attending the Chicago Auto Show for quite a few years now, and every year we’re just as excited to go as the last. This year looks pretty promising, although a bit lacking in terms of concept cars. It seems manufacturers are starting to pay closer attention to their budgets, and aren’t going as all-out on concepts as they used to. Regardless, here are a few concept cars on display this year:

Concept Cars

There are a few concepts I’m looking forward to seeing there, such as the Audi R8 V12 TDI - which was shown at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this month. As if the regular R8 wasn’t cool enough, Audi’s gone and added a 6.0L V12 diesel engine creating 500 horsepower and a monstrous 738 lb/ft of torque. The new engine is expected to get the new R8 from 0-62 mph in about 4.2 seconds, and get a whopping 23 mpg! That’s more than I can say for my Maxima.

Audi R8 V12 TDI

Dodge will be showing the ZEO Concept electric car, which basically looks like a more muscular Chevy Volt:

Dodge Zeo

The Dodge ZEO (Zero Emissions Operation) is an all-electric, 268 horsepower, rear-wheel-drive 2+2 wagon that gets from 0 to 60 mph in about 6 seconds, and is adorned with all types of the regular “look at me, I’m electric” lights and gizmos that will never come in the production version.

Buick will be showing us a concept mock-up of the Riviera. The stock photos show all of the typical concept stuff, gull-wing doors, LED headlights, crazy curves and sharp edges, space-ship interiors - but it doesn’t matter because the production version will look nothing like this:

Buick Riviera Concept

I think this is Buick trying to tell us they want to move away from the “only for old people” image they’ve had for years, so they’ll gauge reaction from this concept and possible create a younger looking car a few years down the road.

It’s not just Buick aiming for the young crowd, Chevy will be showing off their trio of hip, small concept cars that seem to be trying to piggyback off of the success of Scion. The Beat, Groove, and Trax will all make an appearance.

Chevy Beat Chevy Groove Chevy Trax

Hummer’s attempt at grasping at straws to turn a profit has actually created a pretty attractive concept. The Hummer HX Concept is a two-door off-road convertible created by three young, new designers in the Hummer studio. Not much info has been released on this concept yet.

Hummer HX Concept

Last but not least, Jeep will be showing the Renegade Concept. Powered by a lithium-ion battery pack and a 115 horsepower, 1.5-liter, 3-cyclinder BLUETEC diesel engine, this thing looks like a blast to drive.

Jeep Renegade Concept

The Jeep “delivers a 400-mile driving range, and an equivalent petroleum fuel economy of 110-mpg. Dual electric 200 kilowatt (268 horsepower) motors propel the 4×4 system.” This is about as close as you can get to a real Warthog Vehicle from Halo (a video game.)

Of course this brief list of concepts isn’t exhaustive, there are always some surprises from the manufacturers at the show. I’ll be keeping you updated of cars released as it happens.

Stay tuned for a preview of the Debut cars that will be appearing at the Chicago Auto Show.

In the mean time, take a look at the floor map for this year. Not much of a difference between this year and last, so if you’ve been there before at least you know what to expect. Although it looks like my favorite video game, Project Gotham Racing 4 will be making an appearance at booth 4 :)

2008 Jeep Commander Review

What's New for 2008
Engine and feature upgrades are in store for the 2008 Jeep Commander. The 4.7-liter V8 is considerably more powerful this year as well as being slightly more fuel efficient. Off-road technology and versatility are bolstered with the Hill Descent Control and Hill Start Assist electronic driving aids as part of the Quadra-Drive II four-wheel-drive system. Inside, the Commander has five-passenger seating available for the first time. To entertain the troops, this year's Commander can now be had with the hard-drive-based "MyGIG" infotainment system and Sirius Backseat TV.

2008 Jeep Commander2008 Jeep Commander-2Introduction
Jeep's big people mover is back for its third year of production. It's the only seven-passenger SUV in Jeep's lineup, and it carries the burden of providing rugged off-road abilities with luxury and convenience features for the whole family.

Though its blocky exterior styling is obviously influenced by the beloved Cherokee of the 1980s and '90s, the Commander is actually related to the current Grand Cherokee. It rides on the same wheelbase but is a little longer and notably taller. The height gain, in particular, allows the addition of stadium-style rear seating and a 50/50-split fold-flat third-row seat.

For 2008, the Jeep Commander receives a few significant changes. Under the hood you'll find a revised version of the optional 4.7-liter V8 engine. It now makes 305 horsepower, a whopping 70-hp increase over last year's 4.7-liter V8. Jeep even says that the new engine is slightly more fuel efficient (although gas mileage is still pretty abysmal). The base V6 and top-shelf 5.7-liter V8 remain, but we think that the vast majority of buyers will be quite satisfied with the new 4.7-liter V8.

While these changes are welcome, the 2008 Jeep Commander still suffers from problems it had from the outset. Most significantly, its cargo capacity is meager for this segment of vehicle and the third-row seat -- the whole reason for the Commander in the first place -- is cramped and suitable for small children only. Meanwhile, the tall height and rugged suspension don't do the vehicle any favors in terms of on-road manners. Though still a decent choice for a shopper wanting real off-road ability plus seven-passenger capacity, we think most shoppers will be better off with more well-rounded midsize SUV choices like the Ford Explorer and Toyota 4Runner. And if seven-passenger capacity is a priority, crossovers like GMC's Acadia or Mazda's CX-9 are also excellent choices.

2008 Lexus RX 400h Review

Introduction
When it debuted two years ago, the Lexus RX 400h marked the beginning of a new paradigm by introducing more efficient hybrid technology to the popular but highly consumptive luxury SUV segment. While more affordable hybrid utilities from Toyota and Ford have been around for several years and other larger upscale SUVs from Chrysler and GM are now joining the hybrid parade, the 2008 Lexus RX 400h remains the lone "green" entry in the midsize luxury utility class.

2008 Lexus RX 400h 2008 Lexus RX 400h -2Using full-hybrid technology, the RX 400h's gasoline/electric powertrain can operate in gas-engine-only, electric-only or combination modes depending on conditions. The system combines a V6 engine with an electric motor-generator to drive the front wheels and stores its energy in a nickel metal hydride battery pack that fits inconspicuously under the vehicle's rear seat. (All-wheel-drive models feature an additional electric motor to drive the rear wheels.) These components work together seamlessly to generate up to 268 horsepower and 0-60-mph sprints in fewer than 8 seconds. During light acceleration or when coasting, the 400h saves fuel by running solely on battery power. It all adds up to acceleration similar to that of some V8-powered rivals while achieving the best fuel economy in the midsize luxury SUV class.

Of course, none of this comes cheap. A typically equipped 400h will cost close to $50,000, about $4,000 more than a similar RX 350. Even with gas above $3 a gallon, it will take many miles and years of driving to recoup the cost. And from a pure "save the planet" standpoint, buying a Prius still makes much more sense. That said, this is still one very likable vehicle. Quick, fuel efficient and luxurious, the RX 400h comes with a set of attributes that just about any luxury SUV buyer will find appealing.

Review2Buy: Prices and Reviews on the Mobile Phone

Review2Buy: prices and reviews on the mobile phone

[DEMO 08] Review2buy is launching its new text message based solution that provides mobile phone users with product reviews and local and online price comparisons.

I tested the service and it is pretty easy and quick to use: simply send the product name, ISBN or UPC code as a text-message to REVIEW (738439) and within seconds, you get the information on the phone as a SMS.

On my Smartphone and on the website, I got prices from Amazon and local resellers like Office Depot, Best Buy or Target (I tested it with the MX Revolution Cordless mouse). The review is from Amazon, and you can locate the nearest store where the product is available on the Review website.

There are other text-based price comparison services like Frucall, but to my knowledge, they do not provide product reviews via sms. For more information, visit www.review2buy.com. This article will be updated with the link to the demonstration video in the next few days

O2 Broadband: Review - summary

o2b.png

As I mentioned when I joined IntoMobile, occasionally I will be writing commentary or editorial on various areas within Mobile. Today it’s the turn of O2, with their Broadband offering - yes, those tentative steps towards convergence are occurring apace within the industry (as you might or might not know, O2 bought Be - an ADSL2+ Broadband provider).

I actually ordered O2 Broadband about 2 weeks before Christmas - the idea being that whilst I was off from work (and having a baby!), that it would be less inconvenient - however, I was concerned that being the Xmas period, there were going to be problems with logistics (activation, and equipment delivery) - I need not have worried…..

The equipment, and the activiation both occurred within days of each of other - in fact the only reason I didn’t get the router on the same day as activiation, is because I decided to move the delivery date.

“Move the delivery date?” I hear you say - yes, O2’s delivery of the router, and also the notification of activation of my line were both managed by text message. And not just one-way text either, but interactive - by this I mean you could respond to the delivery date SMS, and choose another date! I can’t say how good it is to see a company taking this part of the broadband experience seriously - and O2 get major kudos for getting this part right!

I should probably mention at this point too, that I had a previous BB (Broadband) provider - so in actuality, I was porting my account via a MAC code. Nevertheless, O2 managed this perfectly too, and my line was activated on the 27th December.

Now, on to the router setup and usage……..

On unpacking the box that arrived via courier, I found the router, instructions, and ADSL filter - the usual stuff if you’ve ever had BB before. This all got plugged in, and shortly afterwards I was upstairs on my PC, checking out the admin interface to the router, to see if I was connected (just a note here that my router is connected to the PC via Homeplug wiring - that’s LAN over Powerline - which will probably form the subject of another post….).

All was looking good - in fact in my haste to plug everything in, I didn’t install the CD that came with the router. On reading the instructions, I found it didn’t matter, because it looked like all the installation CD did was install AV (Anti-virus) protection, and also modify some settings (I’ll come to this later).

I tested internet and email, and was quick to notice outgoing emails were not going anywhere - that being the case, a quick call to UK-based customer services, and it confirmed some interesting points I’d missed when signing up:

  • O2 require you to use their SMTP servers to send email - this is one of things that gets set up if you install their CD (which I hadn’t done, as I noted previously)

  • O2 are currently blocking SKYPE - which is kinda obvious when you consider their core business

The second point wasn’t a major issue for me since I don’t use Skype, but it’s something worth bearing in mind if you are a user. The first was an issue however, because I pay to have my own domain (along with email) hosted on the interweb. However, a very reasonable chap from customer services explained that it’s because O2 are trying to manage SPAM in and out of the network.

I did explain that I needed access to my email server, and he said that for this to happen, there was a 5/month surcharge for a static IP address (and the associated routing to hit my interweb email server). Fair enough I thought, a company trying to proactively manage SPAM, I’m happy to work with that!

So, what’s the service been like since then? In short:

  • the router stays connected to BB really well

  • the customer service people are very helpful and easy to get hold of

  • the charges are reasonable

Overall then, a MUCH better experience than my previous provider, who shall remain nameless! As I said before, it’s so refreshing to have a GOOD experience with service provision in the UK today, and as a result O2 are the first to get a rating on my new scoring system:

5star.png

Score: O2 Broadband gets 5 stars out of 5 - excellent all round!

(Subnote: O2 Broadband, being ADSL2+, is capable of supporting up to 20Mb or so - however this is dependent not on their infrastructure, but mainly on the cable in ground - so I currently receive 2Mb, which isn’t the fastest - however, given this is out of O2’s control, I have not factored it in to the rating, as it would have been unfair)

Conclusion
The volume level delivered by the earpiece is quite average, as you might not be able to get what?s said on the other end while in a busy street or underground. DAB Radio

A DAB radio is a latest and new way of listening to songs. It is nothing but a Digital Audio Broadcasting that gives much more clarity and quality to the songs and music that is heard. This also gets more of radio stations than the FM radios, as the technology used in this is that of digital waves than analogue waves, which explains the clarity and the crispness of the music played.

The DAB radio was introduced in the UK in 1995. The actual technology that is used in this is called the COFD, which stands for Coded Orthoganal Frequency Division Multiplex along with the MPEG technology which helps in transforming analogue waves to digital. Analogue transmissions are usually interfered by "Multipath" disturbances, which is nothing but lose of signals in between hills and other disturbances. It has processors that rule out the possibility of any disturbances or interferences, thus giving clear and distortion-free music.

The traditional FM radio machines would not be able to collect digital signals and become a DAB radio. For this, specific radios are available that convert the signals into digital signals and pick them up. They also come with an LCD screen that gives the station details. This does not mean that all radios with LCD screens are DAB radios. Though these signals are easily available, in some remote places, they might not be received in the UK. Many stations come in different parts of the UK, for example, in London, more than 50 stations can be picked at a time.

There are many advantages of having such radios. The first and foremost advantage being that they have the capacity to get more radio channels with very good voice clarity and quality. Different stations, each one specialising in a specific kind, are also available with the help such radios. The disturbances and interruptions coming are also less or even zero, when compared to the analogue signals. They are also simple to use and do not include any complex buttons or mechanisms in it. Also since many have an LCD display giving details of the channel, the song played, artist etc, it proves to be very informative. And the most important thing - digital radio is free and there is no need to pay anything for the connection! Only the DAB Radio is to be paid, while buying it.

With so many advantages that the radio has, it is definitely a good source of entertainment to all those who love music of different genres and types and artists!

Personalised Gifts - A Healing Touch

One of the troubles of modern times is the fact that it has reduced humans to the position of robots. Yes, you have read it right, there is not much of a difference between a man and machine in today's times. People are so engrossed in their work that it leaves them with no time to relax and recuperate. So busy are they that they often don't even get time to spend some time with their wife and kids. It, therefore, is extremely unlikely that they would have time to meet their near and dear ones on a regular basis. This is having its toll on relationships as well and one can actually feel a cold wave smothering relationships across the world. It is here that personalised gifts step in and ensure that people can at least send some gift to their relatives whom they have not met for a long time. One can be rest assured that it would go a long way in bringing back the warmth in relationships.

One thing that should always be kept in mind while purchasing personalised gifts for near and dear ones is that price should never be the criteria for purchasing such gifts. People would do well to understand that it is the feeling with which a gift is purchased that matters and not the price at which it is purchased.

A few examples would go a long way in explaining this philosophy. A simple gift of a bouquet of flowers on the occasion of his birthday would mean a lot to him. Similarly a get well soon card if he is suffering from some illness would go a long way in filling him up with enthusiasm to take on the illness.

With life getting more and more hectic, it really should not surprise anyone that more and more gift shops are coming up as people realise that if they can't meet their relatives on a regular basis then they can at least send some personalised gifts to them so that they stay connected and that camaraderie is still there.

Extra Long Beds XL Beds - Product Spotlight

Many taller individuals find it tough looking for beds to fit small spaces because the majority of these beds in the marketplace are made to fit people up to 6 feet tall. Standard bed sizes in twin and full are quite popular due in part to the width of these beds but being able to fit into smaller spaces is important and often these beds aren't long enough to accommodate taller people.

Queen and king size beds are available but these won't fit into smaller spaces. There is a solution though that will allow you to keep the width of a twin or full size bed and provide the longer length you'd find in a queen or king bed. It's called extra long beds.

Extra long beds (or xl beds) can be explained as taking a twin or full size bed and making it in the length of a queen bed. Normal dimensions of a twin bed would be 39 inches by 75 inches. A twin xl bed would be 39 inches by 80 inches. Normal dimensions of a full bed would be 54 inches by 75 inches. The full xl bed would be 54 inches by 80 inches. Notice that the standard beds when made extra long are gaining 5 inches in length. This may not seem like a lot but it's the difference between sleeping someone 6 foot 3 inches to sleeping someone 6 foot 8 inches.

What typically happens with extra long sizes is that once you track down the mattress you'll need to find a bed frame to go with your mattress. XL beds are manufactured by sticking with the standard width construction of the headboard and footboard and bringing in the rail systems used on a queen or king bed with some modification to the slats or foundation used on these sizes. Finding bedding and sheets for extra long sizes has become easier as many department stores have started carrying these special sizes. Often if it isn't stocked you can easily special order the sizing that you need.

Besides twin extra long and full extra long bed sizes another size exists which is also considered an extra long size and that would be California king size. Cal king beds were created differently than standard king size beds both in width and length. Regular king sizes are 76 inches by 80 inches. California king bed sizes are less wide at 72 inches but the length is longer at 85 inches. This means these beds can sleep someone up to 7 feet tall. This makes cal king beds the best choice for length of bed if you have both the width and length in the room to be able to fit these beds.

In this article we've looked at extra long bed sizes in twin and full. These extra long beds provide additional length that allow for the same width but simply make the bed longer allowing sleeping for individuals up to 6 feet 8 inches tall. Besides twin xl and full xl size beds we learned about California king size beds which provide additional length above and beyond a standard king bed but are less wide. These cal king beds can sleep individuals up to 7 feet tall making them the best bed for accommodating taller people. If you're looking for longer length in a bed the sizes we've talked about in this article should be of help in providing a comfortable nights sleep.

DVD Replication - Cutting Edge Technologies

The DVD replication industry is growing at an unprecedented pace, thanks to the high demand by movie studios, television networks, video game designers, and software developers. In addition, advertising departments and agencies are increasingly turning to DVD duplication and CD replication to distribute product promotions, press kits, and collateral sales materials.

There are a number of technologies that have been developed in order to deliver information in a highly innovative and effective manner, and to minimize some of the problems that have arisen as a result of piracy.

One of the most imaginative advances in DVD and HD-DVD replication is what is known as a FlexDVD. This ultra-thin disc is only 0.6mm thick, and can be bent and manipulated without damage to the disc. Remarkably, the FlexDVD plays like a regular disc, and is available in DVD-5 (4.7 GB), HD-DVD (15 GB), 80mm VCD (1.1 GB), and a "mini" HD-DVD (3.7 GB). Yet, because it's only half as thick as a regular DVD, it can be utilized in ways that regular DVDs simply cannot. For example, because it's resistant to breaking, shattering, and cracking, a FlexDVD can easily be used in direct mail, or as a cover mount on a magazine or manual.

Another innovation in the DVD duplication field is what's called a "hybrid disc." This is a two-sided disc that contains DVD material on one side and digital audio on the other. It can be formatted as DVD/CD, HD-DVD/CD, or HD-DVD/DVD-5. While the music and video industries have used this product, it has expanded to the business-to-business sector. Within the music industry, one side of this hybrid disc is often used for music videos, behind the scenes footage, and artists' biographies, while the other side is used as a conventional CD. The B-to-B market appreciates that a single disc operates both as a DVD-ROM and CD-ROM, enabling them to reach every target audience with a single disc.

While the adage says that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, HD-DVD duplication and CD duplication services are often judged by their packaging and labeling. One of the most intriguing - and scent-sational - innovations is what are termed "rub and smell discs." Essentially, a scented varnish is applied to the label but remains inert until someone rubs the label and releases the scent. Given research that indicates that consumers are four times as likely to buy a product that they can smell over a similar but unscented product, marketers are embracing the potential of rub and smell discs. Those in the DVD replication industry are adding this technology to their repertoire by offering clients both stock and customized scents.

The industry is also offering cutting edge technology to prevent unauthorized DVD replication and CD duplication. With an estimated one billion dollars per year lost to piracy in the movie industry alone, the urgency to find ways to protect copyrighted material has reached the critical stage. There are a number of techniques employed that prevent video content from being recorded to DVD and computer recorders, either digitally or through analog means.

Recent trends have clearly demonstrated that the DVD replication industry is more than up to the task of finding new and innovative ways to manufacture DVDs, create creative packaging solutions, and prevent piracy.

Sleep Number Bed Reviews

Many people who are interested in purchasing a new bed are looking for Sleep Number Bed reviews. The company has a marketing plan whereby the consumer can take the bed home and test it for thirty nights. They refer to it as the thirty-night challenge. Many people have taken this opportunity to try it out for themselves. There are both positive and negative thoughts on these beds; however, we are going to focus on the positive at this time.

Sleep Number bed reviews find that many people prefer the Select Comfort mattress used by the Sleep Number Company because unlike a traditional mattress, it cradles your body on a cushion of air, which reduced the uncomfortable pressure points that lead to tossing and turning. Thus, it contours to your body allowing for superior comfort and excellent back support.

Sleep Number Bed reviews have found that nine out of ten couples agree that this type of bed is much better that their previous one. A bed is built for two people in mind because of the ability to adjust either side of the bed to that persons particular preference. For example, one side can have a different firmness or softness or a different elevation that than the other depending on the persons needs.

The Sleep Number bed numbers simply refer to the firmness of the mattress. Some people find that all the settings are fine for them. It is a matter of personal preference. The idea behind the Companys thirty-day challenge is that they feel that once a person becomes used to sleeping on one of their beds that after thirty days there is no way that they will want to return it. This strategy has proven to be very effective for the Company.

Sleep Number bed reviews continually support the idea that if you suffer from back pain or other aches and pains in the morning that sleeping on one of these beds will reduce your aches and pains by allowing you to have a much more comfortable nights sleep. Many aches and pains are simply caused by uncomfortable sleeping habits. These types of beds consist of adjustable air chambers which when controlled by the touch of a button change the settings of the mattress.

What Sleep Number bed reviews do not usually reveal is that the price of these beds is quite high due to the technology involved. However, they are covered by a twenty year guarantee.

Who Are You - A Boomer Consumer Or Just A Waster, A Waiter Or A Wisher?

OK... how much stuff do you waste? Think about it. Whether it's time or "stuff" we are all guilty. Let's talk time. First we'll look at the BUYER. You shop on line to save time right? No waiting in long lines, no crowds, no finding a parking spot, etc. But then what do you do? You go on-line to the overcrowded sites and post and wait in a crowd of thousands of people. Whether it's an auction site or a listing site, face it, you are lost in the shuffle. Oh sure, they were great 2-5 years ago but now you're competing with pleas for Hanna Montana tickets or the SuperBowl or "just send me a dollar" post and all you want to do is buy a bed! And the same goes for the seller- you have all that AND people who want to sell the potato chip shaped like Abraham Lincoln or the washcloth a celebrity used to wipe off the vomit. Ugh. So why didn't you just go set up shop at a flea market or have a yard sale and bypass the crazies? Because you wanted to save the time and the hassle, right? Well, guess what? Those sites you are posting now probably won't save you either!

When I say waste I'm not just talking time. I'm talking about the stuff you buy and discard to the backs of your closets, attics, basements and garages. Think about it-are you a closet shop-a-holic? Many of us are. Addicted to what's new today, the "gotta have it" items that are plastered everywhere. Stuff you bought but tired of or are no longer using-from clothes to gadgets. How many clothes do you have that have only been worn a few times and then pushed to the back of the closet, never to be thought of again. How about all those great baby items that your child has now outgrown. Where are they? Are you a "new hobby every quarter" person? Started it, bought all the gear/equipment but then decided it wasn't for you. Now where's the stuff? What about you techie folks. New gadgets come out and you discard the old ones without a thought. Maybe you'll post on a listing or an auction site with the zillion of others.

What we want to do is raise the awareness that there are people who can't afford to shop retail but like the same "stuff"-the clothes, the gadgets, and the sports/hobby equipment. What's old to you is new to somebody. And do you always have to buy retail? Can you make a difference in your life or someone else's by becoming a BOOMER CONSUMER (BC)? Yes, we all can become a BC by getting the retailers hands out of our pocket while helping each other. Many of the present day auction sites and listing sites have loads of RETAILERS in disguise. We can cut them out and barter with each other so WE win not the mega stores or greedy merchants. Think about it: People who have and people who need coming together on a site that doesn't have zillions of crazy post. A site with ordinary folks bartering their wares at fair prices. Sounds like a time gone by doesn't it? Well its back.

We offer a place where people can make real deals FOR FREE, that will definitely save you from being a waiter, a waster or a wisher and may help someone who is struggling to get ahead. Save money and time but sidestepping the zillions and meeting with the millions like you want to become Boomer Consumers. The website http://www.begbarterorbuy.com is more about the heal vs. the deal. You can make a difference if you open your heart along with your closet, basement or garage. Eco-Friendly Bamboo Beds - Product Spotlight

Many consumers are doing their part to find eco-friendly household goods, lighting and other methods of recycling waste to cut down the impact that many of these things have on our environment and natural resources. Furniture is also something can be explored in terms of finding green alternatives. One such alternative is in the form of bamboo.

Bamboo is featured in many products from chopsticks, fencing, musical instruments, flooring, and of course furniture. The pulp from the bamboo plant can also be turned into material or fabric for use in products like mattress coverings, clothing and other uses. Something else that the bamboo plant produce are called shoots. These shoots are cylindrical almost in the shape of a tusk and protrude out away from the base of the plant. In China these shoots are harvested in the spring and winter. The outer part of the shoot is peeled off and they can be cooked and eaten. Chinese consider these a vegetable and can be found throughout markets during the different seasons that they are harvested.

Bamboo is often mistaken as a hardwood from China. It is true that Bamboo is found throughout Asia and most of China however bamboo is actually classified as a plant or a grass. Bamboo grows very quickly and as it matures the stalk of the bamboo grass hardens considerably and typically within 5-7 years many species of bamboo plants have reached almost 60-70 feet tall at which time they can be harvested. Compare this with the fact that most oak and maple trees of the same size take between 40-45 years to reach this same height says a lot about the quick maturity of bamboo plants. Once harvested bamboo can usually be reseeded in about 3 months where the grass will again grow quickly replenishing the land in a short amount of time. This cannot be said however for hardwood trees like oak and maple that require decades of growth. That is why many environmentalists believe using bamboo as an alternative building material or resource can help to alleviate the use of these woods.

A furniture manufacturer in the United States by the name of Ramblin Wood actually decided that they wanted to offer beds in an alternative wood source to help provide customers with the choice of getting furniture made with eco-friendly materials. They visited the Las Vegas market which led them to California and eventually took them all the way to Shanghai China where they discovered a manufacturer making moso bamboo boards for building and construction. They toured the plant as well as the countryside where the bamboo was being harvested and replanted and were quite amazed by the fact that there was no clear cutting. The bamboo was being reseeded so quickly that no sooner had bamboo been harvested people were preparing the soil for replanting. This seemed to them to be a responsibly harvested resource with little to no impact on the environment and Ramblin Wood decided to begin importing the moso bamboo boards into the United States for creating bamboo beds, nightstands, bed drawers and dressers.

After reading this article I hope you'll find that bamboo is an ecological friendly choice as an alternative to other building resources. Bamboo beds, musical instruments, flooring and kitchen cutting boards are just a few of the many uses that bamboo can offer. Bamboo is classified as a grass and because it can be grown, harvested and reseeded so quickly it makes its usefulness as a responsible alternative to hardwoods very apparent. Bamboo is also a source of food in many Asian countries and this further increases its worth as a resource which sets it apart from hardwoods. Alternative building materials like bamboo make sense not only for our homes but also for our planet.

Garmin nuvi 270 Review

Garmin nuvi 270 Review

CNet took the Garmin nuvi 270 out for a spin, and here's what they have to say about it.

At 3.8 inches wide by 2.8 inches high by 0.8 inch deep and 5.2 ounces, the Garmin Nuvi 200 isn’t that much bigger than today’s latest smart phones or PDAs; in other words, it’s pretty compact. It helps that the GPS antenna is now integrated into the device, unlike older Nuvi models like the Garmin Nuvi 350, which had a flip-up antenna. And while the Nuvi 200 is probably a little too bulky to fit into a pants pocket comfortably, you’ll have no problem carrying it in a bag, using it on foot, or transporting it between vehicles.

According to CNet, the downside includes a missing volume button on the side, and the need to use the touch interface for just about everything. If you're looking for a functional and basic GPS navigation system, it sounds like the nuvi 270 makes for a decent purchase. Bear in mind that the 200, 250, 260, and 270 are all the same devices with different map options.

Chicago ?08 Preview Ford Transit Connect rumored to arrive

We were reported last January that the European Ford Transit Connect would be coming to the U.S., and now we've learned that the Euro van is expected to join the assemblage of debuts at this year's Chicago Auto Show.

Ford Transit ConnectFord Transit Connect-2Speculation is that the front-wheel-drive mini-ish vans will hit showrooms as a 2009 model and come with a 4-cylinder engine. It is also said to have seating for five, but meant to compete with another, larger European transplant, the Dodge Sprinter.

Since Ford hasn't even acknowledged that the vehicle will be at Chicago, it hasn't issued a price, but MSRP for the Sprinter Van is $32,150 and the Sprinter Wagon goes for $34,350. If nothing else, we're happy to see Ford's European migration this way continuing, and there's even a Transit Connect SportVan! Now if we could work on some of those passenger car offerings...

First Review ? HP B8850 Printer

PhotographyBlog has the full review of the new HP B8850 is a brand new photo printer that promises to deliver excellent photo quality at a very competitive price point. Retaining most of the important features from the more expensive and popular B9180 model, the B8850 costs $150 less yet still offers the same print quality, with your photos resisting fading for more than 200 years (according to the manufacturer, we'll get back to you by then...). There’s certainly some very keen rivalry at this price-point, with similar printers on offer from Epson and Canon, but the HP B8850 could be all the photo printer that you will ever need.
